Wheat Baumkuchen @ One Raffles Place

This place was introduced by Ron and he always eat here for lunch. So just happened that i went to his office nearby to wait for him, he decided to bring me here for dinner. In fact, we came here about 8pm and the queue was still quite long. But we are lucky enough to find seats, even though the space is not big. I guess its because everyone here has this idea of "Eat and Go" rather than eat then chit chat.

Bull Run Noodle ($8.00) -  Chicken with Green soba noodle. The portion was not very big but it turns out to be filling. Food not very oily. The noodle itself has not much taste so must mix well with the seasoning.

Salmon Noodle ($9.00) - Salmon with Green soba noodle. The Salmon is abit dry compared to the chicken.
Black soya milk ($1.60) - I really love this. It feels so healthy and nice. Its not sweet at all. But Ron did not like this, maybe its because its not sweet to him.

Llao Llao, The Frozen Yogurt

Llao Llao has been in Singapore for awhile and finally I got to try it just recently. Yes! Recently! This is because the queue at Llao Llao is always very long and so happened I am always rushing for meetings that I can't afford the time to queue till recently.

Honestly, i think the Yogurt taste more like ice-cream. It does not have this typical yogurt taste. After my first mouth, i remembered saying "It has this strong milk taste! ". Then i realised that Llao Llao yogurt is make from Slimmed Milk. Subsequently when i mixed it with fruits and nuts, it tasted good!!! This made the experience better and i almost forgot that i am having yogurt because it just tasted like a healthy version of vanilla ice-cream.

I am quite excited to try this in Europe at the end of the year!!!

Boon Lay Raja Restaurant - Favorite Chinese Restaurant in the west ( Updated)

am putting this down as part of my memories because this awesome restaurant will stop their operation end of this month (31st Mar 2015). The reason is because the man beside this Restaurant decided to retire after that.

This Chinese Restaurant is located at Blk 135 Jurong Gateway Road, Level 2. Basically, they are 5 mins away from the MRT station and its directly besides JCube shopping mall.

Since 2009, my family have been getting Peng Cai (盆菜) and Yusheng (魚生) for our family reunion dinner every year except 1 year we missed their closing date for their pre-order and have to buy from another reputable resturant which was really horrible. And yes, from that year onwards, we only buy Peng Cai from Boon Lay Raja. It is pity that they are closing. Honestly, they really served good food and it was never overpriced.
Sometime, my papa will bring us over for dinner or even do take away  if we decided to eat at home. Usually, when we were there, we will order their set meal and if we are doing take away then we will do ala carte. Food was never too oily and the food was never too rich. And i guess thats the reason why we love about the place.

Our favourite dishes:
- Roasted Crispy Duck with Mango Sauce
- Steamed crab
- Sweet Yam Paste with Golden Pumpkin and Gingko Nut

    IndoChili Indonesian Restaurant Food Review

Ron and i are Indonesian food lovers. Whenever we are in Indonesian, we will definitely eat their local food because we simply enjoy it.  In Singapore, if we come across any stall or restaurant that sell Indonesian food, it is always the case... "Lets try it". Because we really miss the food in Indonesian. And recently, we found one that is REALLY good in Singapore that we really want to share.

    IndoChili Indonesian Restaurant

IndoChili is the leading family friendly Indonesian Restaurant. They are the winner of Food Republic Hawker King Challenge and one of the restaurants rated 4.5 out of 5 by 8 Days Magazine. Currently the restaurant is located along Zion Road which is just opposite Great World City. The most important thing is they served authentic Indonesian food!!!!!

They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Given the space, it is spacious. It is also a ideal place for family/friends gathering. It is baby friendly too.

This is really nice to know that the restaurant believes in NO MSG!!!!

    Cah KangKung ($8.80)

Tahu Telor ($8.80) - This beancurd omelette is a MUST order dish!!! I have to say that this is very very very yummy. The savory sweet peanuts sauce is way too awesome. Ron and i love it very much and it is by far the best Tahu Telor we have eaten. We give you 5/5.

Sate Ayam Madura (5pcs) ($7.80) - The chicken was not tough and it went very well with their sauce. It is my favorite dish as well.

Udang Bakar Jimbaran ($17.50) - Prawns were fresh.

Ayam Bakar Kecap ($8.80) - This grilled chicken was not dry at all and quite tender being the fact it was grilled. Ron's favourite dish.

Left: Kiwi Cream Soda ($5.80) ; Right: Es Kopi Duren ($5.80)
If i have only one item to pick in the drinks menu. I will go for  Es Kopi Duren. Both of us really like this drink. Basically, its DURIAN COFFEE ice blended. It is very rich and tasty. Honestly, I am missing it now.

Overall, it was a satisfied dinner for sure. Food was authentic and nice. Ron said their food "有水准"  (Got standard) with good customer service. We will come back for sure, specially for Es Kopi Duren and Tahu Telor.

Kueh Lapis Legit Durian (Medium) ($32.00) - I wanted to buy home the original flavor but they have sold out. This shows how good the Kueh Lapis is. But lucky, we managed to get this which has durian flavor. Ron bought home the medium size and ask the staff in the restaurant to cut it half for us. So this is the half portion for my family. Try and Tasted! Thumbs up.!

3 Ways to spend a day as a couple without costing us a bomb

    1. Watch Movies at home
Watching movies at home is more cost saving than watching in the cinema. But that doesn't mean we do not go to the cinema anymore because we cant afford to go cinema every time when we date.

    2. Cooking together
Ron loves to cook and so do I. We will buy ingredients from the supermarket and usually cost us $20. That means it cost $10 for each. And we are good for a good dinner. In fact, this is our favorite activity together.

    3. Exercising together
We are the members of the California Fitness, so sometime we will go to the gym together rather separately and do sets together as part of our dating activity. By the way, we spent our 2014 Valentine's day in the gym. I am not complaining but i find it very special. If you are not the gym member, you can do other exercise like jogging, swimming and etc.  Its also a way to lose weight because we tend to put on weight in a relationship, at least Ron and i do.

Privé Cafe @ Keppel - Favorite Brunch place in the year of 2014

Today i am going to write a short post on one of our favorite brunches in the year 2014.

    Privé Cafe @ Keppel

The first time I went to Privé was 4 months ago when Ron and his friends had a small gathering there. Way before that I had people keeps telling me the food there is awesome,  including Ron says so too. But because we were so busy and there were other brunch places to visit, Privé was always in our list of brunch places to visit and we never execute it till 4 months ago. I wouldn't said that I have been to many brunch places in Singapore but I have to say that after I been to Privé , it has became one of my favorite brunch places.

I think the first thing that attracted me the most is the decoration / theme of the cafe. The color scheme they used give a very relax feel. And the place is very spacious too which i love the most which makes it baby friendly. Food is good and thats the main reason why i want to return.

My favorite order: Privé’s Ultimate Brekkie (2 eggs (any style), 6-inch chicken Frankfurter, maple-roasted bacon, roasted Roma tomato, sautéed button mushrooms, potato rosti, housemade wholemeal toast). Trust me, the portion is very big so i  usually share with someone.

Love this Eggs Benedict (English muffin, smoked leg ham, streaky bacon, poached eggs,
Hollandaise sauce). This is one of the good ones i had tried so far.

Every time i am there, i will definitely order this place. Recommended to add $3 for the truffle mayonnaise. The truffle mayonnaise will bring the fries to a new level. Yummy!!!!

    Must Try:
    - Privé’s Ultimate Brekkie ($20)
    - Eggs Benedict ($16)
Straight Cut Fries ( $10) + Add truffle mayonnaise ($3)

    Caratell made our Wedding Bands

Different couples, have different wants for a wedding and within the couple, there are different things that are important to each. And to Ron, the engagement ring, and the wedding bands are the few important things in the wedding for him. So many years in his mind, he always wanted a Mobius Strip design for the wedding bands. Mobius Strip means having a strip and do a single twist at one of the ends and then joins the 2 ends together. If you use a pencil and draw on the strip, it will still start and finish at the same place. With this, he wanted to made this idea into the design for the ring. It also means there is no start and no end in our marriage. I really like the idea.

So we started going around the jewelry shops in Singapore and hopefully we can find one so we can get it off the rack. It will be cheaper. However, after searching for months we still couldn't find.

We concluded that we needed to custom made it.

Caratell is the shop that Ron went to do the engagement ring and they mentioned that they do customization/ designing of rings too. So they were one of the choices. However, we really want to shop around first and our idea was we might find better jeweler. Honestly, shopping around was the right choice because it made us decided on Caratell instead.

In terms of customer service, they are one of the few good ones which Ron agreed. The thing we like about them was they listened to us.  Even the lady boss knows what exactly she is talking with good understanding of the material used in the ring. We really need somebody like them to understand how their service can help us. And not trying too hard to sell us their stuff. And i really want to thanks our designer, Serin. She is very down to earth and humble person. She listened to all our ideas on how we wanted to do. Whenever, we ask her about her views, she is honest and give us her best whenever she can. When the rings are ready for collection, she takes the initiative to take pictures and watsapp us. We really appreciate that alot.

Today, we are very happy to be in Caratell to collect our wedding bands and both of us really like it alot.

The whole process from drawing, fitting and collection of the rings took about 2 months.

The left is the actual ring and the right is the mock up.

Top is the mock up and below is the actual ring.

Ron's ring: The left hand side is the mock up and the right hand side is the actual ring. They did one ring mock up so that we have an idea how would the ring look like.

     This is my mine.

Proudly present our wedding bands and together with the engagement ring. We have to agree that they were nicely done.

    旺角茶餐厅 @ Bugis Junction

Our recently hangout place at Bugis will be at this 旺角茶餐厅.

They have quite a number of choices to pick.

One of the most amazing and love about this resturant is their drinks. Most of their tea, they presented in this way so that even the ice melted, the concentration of the drink will not be affected!!! Love love love!!!!

I like the way how they put the egg on top of the Bolognese Pasta.

Food For Thought Presents A LITTLE WHIMSICAL WEDDING SHOWCASE

We went to the wedding show held by Food For Thought at Singapore Botanic Gardens on 17 May 2014 and paid $38 for entry + goodies bag + sampler wedding dinner platter. The goodies bag comes with some complimentary item by different stall vendors during the show. The best thing here is all the guests would entitled a 10% discount for the confirmation of the event with Food For Thought. Since we have decided to hold our ROM with them, it was a good chance to get the discount.

They closed up one of the area to hold their event so that their business could carry on.
The wedding Sample Dinner Platter Menu.

The decoration was setup by MED KARLEK - https://www.facebook.com/mkarlek

I was quite amazed by the nice decoration on each table.

    Here comes the Starters
    - Creamy Mix Mushroom Soup Shooters with Butter Croutons (I like the soup particularly)
    - Mini Spinach and cheese Quiches (Ron likes this)
    - Honey Roasted Beetroot Salad with orange segement, Lychees and Raspberry Balsamic Vinaigrette

    Mains and Sides
    - Tarragon Roasted Chicken with Roasted Autumn Vegetables
    - Lemon Dill Baked Salmon with spicy Aglio Olio Grilled Capsicum Orecchiette

Because Ron is on vegetarian diet for the whole month and i dont take beef so we requested them to give us beef. And in the end, they gave us more Orecchiette and Chicken. That was really very nice of them. We were so full after this and felt sorry that i couldnt finish the chicken.

    Desserts
    - Chantilly Cream Filled ButterScotch Profiteroles
    - Chocolates Brownie Fudge Bites
    - Caramel Banana Crumble Tarts

The desserts were equally good too.

Totally have no regrets coming to the show. -Smile-
